Prep Ahead Gut Healing Smoothies
What if I told you you could have a gut healing (and hormone balancing!) breakfast ready in 2 minutes during the week? Would you believe me? Well you know I would never lie to you! One of the complaints I hear the most about healthy eating is that you don’t have enough time or you’re always running out the door so you grab something out. I totally get it! Life is busy! BUT, in order to improve your gut health/digestion, hormones, inflammation levels, weight or overall wellbeing YOU HAVE TO PRIORITIZE NUTRITION! Good nutrition is the foundation of a healthy body.
Luckily for you, I’ve discovered a hack that has cut down my smoothie prep time to 2 minutes each morning! On Saturday or Sunday, I prep my smoothies ahead of time! I chop my veggies, fruit and any add ons. Put them into my favorite nontoxic containers and pop them in the freezer. Then during the week, all I have to do is empty the container into my blender. Add protein powder and liquid. and BOOM! A HEALTHY GUT HEALING SMOOTHIE LOADED WITH HORMONE LOVING PROTEIN IN 2 MINUTES. Can you tell I am excited?! I love wellness hacks :) Keep reading below for the recipe.
PREP AHEAD GUT HEALING SMOOTHIES
makes 4
Ingredients:
2 cups organic wild blueberries (frozen or reg)
2 bananas, sliced (not too overripe or omit for sensitive guts or those treating candida)
2 cups peeled and sliced zucchini (about 2 medium)
2 inches of peeled ginger (chopped into 4 even pieces)
Ceylon Cinnamon
FOR THE MORNING:
1 scoop clean ingredient protein powder (I always use Vanilla Truvani, its only 4 ingredients)
1/3 cup Organic coconut milk (I always use Native Forest because its gum free)
1/2 cup or more of Filtered water (depending on your desired consistency)
Method:
In each glass, nontoxic containers (I use these! Use code ABBY15 for 15% off), Add 1/2 cup of blueberries, 1/2 banana (about 1/2 cup sliced), 1/2 cup sliced zucchini, 1/2 inch knob of ginger, a couple dashes of cinnamon. Put the top on your containers and place in the fridge.
When you’re ready to make your smoothie, set one freezer container out on the counter for 15 or so minutes prior to blender. This just makes it easier to get everything out of the container. You may also want to do this with your coconut milk if its been in the fridge.
Add smoothie contents, protein powder, coconut milk and filtered water to your high speed blender. Blend for 1 minute until smooth. Pour into your favorite glass. Top with more cinnamon. Enjoy!
