Apple Crisp Skillet

A gluten free and healthier apple crisp to enjoy this fall! We went to a local farm and picked up freshly picked apples for this recipe. It is truly farm to table!

Ingredients

Apple filling

4-5 pealed and sliced apples (I used honey crisp)

1 tsp of vanilla extract

1 heaping tsp of cinnamon

Pinch of nutmeg

1/3 cup maple syrup

Crisp Topping

1 cup oats

1/4 cup flour

1/2 cup coconut sugar (I used half coconut sugar, half maple sugar)

1 tsp of cinnamon

1/4 cup salted butter

Method

Preheat oven to 350

Grease an iron skillet (or baking dish) with oil

Peel, core and thinly slice apples

In a large bowl, add apples, maple syrup, nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Mix together until apples are evenly coated

Pour apple filling into skillet or baking dish. Set aside

In another bowl, add all topping ingredients except butter and mix together. Once mixed evenly, add butter. Mash butter in with flour and oat mixture until it’s a crumbly consistency.

Sprinkle over apple filling evenly.

Bake in over for 40-50 minutes until golden brown.

Let cool and enjoy with vanilla ice cream
